Ellen Jerstad is a performer/director, and founder of the Oslo based company Øyteateret. After art foundation (Strykejernet) she trained in dance/choreography (Skolen for Samtidsdans), that lead her into the world of theatre and an Applied Theatre Ba at (OsloMet, and the Academy of Performing Arts, DAMU, Prague). Ellen works with theatre as a meeting-point between art forms. She finished her training with an Ma in Directing (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland). Bringing together her skills through theatre directing, Ellen looks to facilitate collaboration, involving audiences, and questioning social patterns. Her work often concerns the outsider, and strives to tell the story of outsiders and minorities. She has lead Øyteateret since 2014, and produced approx. two shows a year, to a growing audience in Norway.
